New, enhanced fan experience awaiting Sun Devil Football fans
Arizona State University isn’t just entering a new era with its move to the Big 12. The fan experience for Sun Devil Football games this fall will be new and improved, as well.
Thanks to a collaboration between the Office of National Scholarships Advisement and Sun Devil Athletics, student-athletes have support when applying for big scholarships — like the NCAA Postgraduate. Two Sun Devils won the award this year.
A new live-learn community empowers high-achieving undergraduates as leaders within sports media and the Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at ASU.

What's it like to be Sparky?
Have you ever wondered what it is like to be Sparky, Arizona State University’s mascot? A Barrett, The Honors College senior knows exactly what it takes; he has been the mascot throughout his years at ASU, appearing at events to promote school spirit and to cheer on ASU sports teams. The student, whose name must be kept confidential until his duties as Sparky come to an end next month, is the subject and one of the producers of a documentary that explores his experiences as the mascot. It will be screened for the first time April 8 in Tempe.
Sport continues to drive social change
The dominating performances by nine African-American male track athletes in the 1936 Olympics was an inspiration for those who followed them, according to two former Olympians. Herbert Douglas and Harrison Dillard spoke at an event Monday sponsored by the Global Sport Institute at ASU at the Downtown Phoenix campus.
Pool is more than a safeguard for Sun Devil swimmer Elijah Warren
Elijah Warren refuses to focus on his rare medical condition when he is in the pool. An All-American high school swimmer from Colorado, Warren has improved and impressed during his first season in Tempe while dealing with an uncommon ailment that is "just natural … to not think about."
