SAN FRANCISCO – After her strong season in the gym and in the classroom,
Anne Kuhm was named the Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year by the conference on Wednesday, just the second Gym Devil in program history to receive the honor.
Â
Kuhm is the second Sun Devil to be named Pac-12 Scholar Athlete of the Year. The first was Mary Atkinson back in 2011. She has a 4.21 GPA in liberal studies and will graduate at the end of the semester.
Â
The senior has had another solid season for Arizona State. She has helped the Gym Devils finish the year with a winning record (11-10) for the first time since 2014. Her best meet of the year was against Oregon State when she had a season-high 39.325 all-around total. She also won a vault title at Texas Woman's University. In all but two meets, she has been an all-around gymnast for ASU.
Â
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, student-athletes must be a senior (in athletics eligibility) on track to receive a degree, have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher, participate in at least 50% of the scheduled contests in the sport and have a minimum of one year in residence at the institution.
