Play ball! D-backs host ASU Day

Team hosts ASU Day Aug. 27

Should the fans wear maroon and gold, or teal and purple?

Die-hard Arizona Diamondbacks fans who happen to be part of the ASU community might have a difficult decision come Aug. 27.

That Sunday has been declared ASU Day at Chase Field. The Diamondbacks will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers at 1:40 p.m., and the team is “inviting ASU fans to show their Sun Devil pride,” says Shaun Rachau, senior director of special programs and events for the Diamondbacks.

It will be a day of Sun Devil and Diamondbacks rah-rah. Sparky and the ASU cheerleaders have promised to be on the field, and an ASU celebrity will throw out the first pitch.

Though it’s still to be decided who will win the Diamondbacks-Dodgers game, on thing is for certain: ASU and Arizona’s young children will be victorious.

During the game, Qwest Communication’s department of Corporate Social Responsibility will present a check for $30,000 to ASU for early childhood education research.

Tickets to the game will be $8 for upper-level tickets (sections 328-330, where the normal price is $11), and $35 for Insight Diamond Level tickets (sections 218-223), where the tickets usually cost $40.

Additional discounts apply for groups of 30 or more. To purchase tickets, visit the Web site (http://arizona.diamondbacks.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/ari/ticketing/ticket_specials.jsp).
