Dubbed “Black Friday,” the theme was “blackout” as the Sun Devils hosted the Tigers of Missouri on Sept. 9.

Sparky sported a black jersey for the blackout, as he greeted students in line before the game.

The student section went all out in embracing the blackout theme.

ASU basketball alumni James Harden and Derek Glaser, who were on the sidelines for the game, show off their Sun Devil pitchforks.

The football team looked great, as they took to the field in their new black uniforms.

Wide receiver Aaron Pflugrad was the subject of one of the many signs in the student section.

Aaron Pflugrad matched his career high with eight receptions and a career high 180 yards receiving and two touchdowns in the 37-30 overtime win against Missouri.

Fans celebrate the first ASU touchdown against the Tigers. Charlie Bauer (right) and his wife, Georgia (second from right) have been season ticket holders for both football and basketball since 1971. They raised their son, David Bauer (third from right) as a Sun Devil, who is now an ASU alumnus, as well as his two daughters. Chris Mendoza (left) and Ryan Lehr (second from left) are also long time Devil fans.

Todd Heap was a tight end from 1998-2000 and left ASU as the all-time leader in both receptions and receiving yards for that position. Heap earned first team all Pac-10 honors in 1999 and 2000. He was in the first round pick in the 2001 NFL draft and has been selected to the NFL pro bowl twice. He played from 2001 to 2010 for the Baltimore Ravens and had returned to the Valley to play for the Cardinals.

Holland Crook (5) and Sam Howell go up for a header during the Sun Devil Classic.

The Missouri women’s soccer team prevailed in the winners bracket game of the Sun Devil Classic over the Sun Devils 1-0. ASU’s Jasmine Roth and Kaitlyn Pavlovich attempt to head the ball on a corner kick.

Jessica DeLeon blocks the attempted clearing kick and moves the ball past Brooke Williams (3) of Missouri. The Sun Devils return to action next weekend when they travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort Cats Classic where they will face Texas Tech (5 p.m., Sept. 16) and Pacific (11 a.m., Sept. 18).
