Criminology assistant professor rewarded for outstanding work

Dr. Min Xie, assistant professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, was awarded the Outstanding Dissertation Award by the University of Albany which recognizes the outstanding dissertation completed in 2007.

Dr. Julie Horney, Albany College Dean, remarked, “The distinguished dissertation award may be given once a year but is not always given. As this year’s award recipient, Min joins such distinguished company as previous recipients Ed McGarrell (Michigan State) and Ed Maguire (American University). She did a truly outstanding job, and we are very proud of her.”

Dr. Xie currently teaches research methods classes. Her research interests include theories of victimization, nature of crime, crime prevention strategies, and qualitative methods. Her work has appeared in Justice Quarterly.
