ASU Gammage announces shows, dates for New Times Beyond Broadway season


<p>Officials with ASU Gammage have announced the 2006-2007 New Times Beyond Broadway season. The eight-show series will feature world-class dancers, musicians and performing artists.</p><separator></separator><p>The shows include:</p><separator></separator><p>• André Watts with the ASU Symphony, Sept. 20 – World-renowned pianist André Watts will perform with the ASU Symphony.</p><separator></separator><p>• Lemn Sissay, “Something Dark,” Oct. 7 – An autobiographical tale about an immigrant youth growing up in foster care, told with humor and honesty by author, poet, playwright and performer.</p><separator></separator><p>• Sankai Juku, “Kagemi – Beyond the Metaphors of Mirrors,” Nov. 7 – Japan 's most successful contemporary dance company comes to town, mixing Western modern dance with traditional Japanese butoh.</p><separator></separator><p>• Russian Theatre Federation, “12th Night,” Nov. 18 – A new interpretation of Shakespeare's comedy about the obsessiveness of romantic love, directed by Declan Donnellan and performed by Russia 's finest actors.</p><separator></separator><p>• Peter Reder, Feb. 22-24 – This is a multidisciplinary work that engages audiences in the contemplation of place, memory and identity through the creation of beautiful, accessible histories, both real and imagined.</p><separator></separator><p>• Robert Moses' Kin, March 3 – This is one of California 's most innovative dance companies. Its dancers use movement to interpret such issues as race, class, culture, gender and human potential.</p><separator></separator><p>• “César and Ruben,” March 30 – A musical drama by Ed Begley Jr. that chronicles the heroic lives of César Chavez and Ruben Salazar.</p><separator></separator><p>• SITI Co., April 28 – This is a contemporary, ensemble-based theater company committed to international cultural exchange and collaboration.</p><separator></separator><p>Tickets for all performances go on sale this summer.
