Water polo defeated by San Jose State

The No. 7 Arizona State University water polo team fell 11-6 to No. 10 San Jose State on Sunday at the Stanford Invitational. The Sun Devils finished sixth in the tournament and are now 7-3 on the season.

Senior Addison McGrath scored four goals in the loss, already her sixth game this season with four or more goals. She has 32 goals on the year, and she has scored in all 10 games this season.

Sophomore Lynlee Smith added two goals in the game, as she has scored in nine of the team's 10 games.

The game was tied after the first quarter at 3-3, but the Spartans took a 6-4 lead into the half. They maintained the two-goal advantage after the third, and then they shut out the Sun Devils in the final frame to take an 11-6 victory.

ASU now has a week off before returning to action at the UC Irvine Invitational on February 21-22.
