Volleyball falls to #8 Washington

SEATTLE, Wash. - Sarah Reaves' 16 kills and Sydney Donahue's 25 digs weren't enough to pull off an upset Thursday night as the Sun Devil Volleyball squad fell in a straight sweep, 31-29, 30-24 and 30-27 to the #8 Washington Huskies. The Sun Devils are now an even 9-9 overall and 1-4 in conference play while the Huskies remain undefeated at 15-0 overall and 4-0 in the Pac-10.

Game one saw the Sun Devils keep up with the Huskies with 11 tie scores and eight lead changes to show for it. Sarah Reaves had five kills to lead ASU, but it wasn't enough as Becky Perry had four to lead Washington and barely edge the Sun Devils 31-29. Game two saw the powerful Huskies come out swinging with a .289 attack percentage and Stevie Mussie leading the effort with her six kills to lead UW to a 30-24 win.

The Sun Devils rallied back in the third game with a .250 attack percentage while tying the score ten times with the Huskies, but UW's Stevie Mussie team-leading nine kills lead the Huskies to a scant 30-27 score over ASU to finish the match.

Next up the Sun Devils will travel to Pullman, Washington where they will face-off with another Pac-10 foe, the Washington State Cougars tomorrow night. The game starts at 7 p.m. PT.
