Munoz ties for second at Northrop Grumman


Led by junior All-American Azahara Munoz, the Arizona State women's golf team finished in fourth place at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif. ASU a shot 37-over 889 for the tournament. UCLA took the tournament's top honors after shooting a 24-over 876 at the par-71, 5,912-yard Palos Veredes Golf Club.

Munoz, who shot a 1-under 70 in the third round, carded three birdies on the day to finish tied for second. Munoz finished at 3-over 216 (75-71-70) for the tournament. Sophomore All-American Anna Nordqvist finished tied for seventh after shooting a three-round total of 5-over 218 (72-75-71). Sophomore Juliana Murcia shot a three-round total of 13-over 226 (75-76-75) to tie for 21st. Junior All-American Jennifer Osborn tied for 32nd after shooting 17-over 230 (81-74-75). Sophomore Liisa Kelo finished in 69th after shooting a 29-over 242 (80-84-78). Freshman Ashley Smith, playing as an individual, shot a 38-over 251 (81-89-81) to finish in 80th.

Next up, the Sun Devils travel to instate rival University of Arizona to compete in the Wildcat Invitational, Feb. 25-27.
