Liz Harkin selected by FC Gold Pride in WPS draft


Former Arizona State defender Liz Harkin was selected by FC Gold Pride with the third pick of the sixth round (50th overall) of the 2010 Women's Professional Soccer Draft.

One of the greatest defenders ever to wear a Sun Devil uniform, Harkin started in 78 of 79 career games, earning First-Team All-Pac-10 honors in 2008 and again in 2009. This past season Harkin played a big role in helping the Sun Devils return to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003.

In 2008 Harkin earned a spot on the U.S. U-20 National Team, which captured the gold medal in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup held in Chile.

Academically speaking, Harkin earned Pac-10 First-Team All-Academic honors three straight years (2007-09) in addition to being named to the NSCAA/adidas Women's Scholar All-America Third Team in 2008 and again in 2009.
