Charli Turner Thorne summer camps set


<p>Arizona State University women's basketball head coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/turnerthorne_charli00… Turner Thorne</a> will hold three basketball camps on the ASU campus this summer.</p><separator></separator><p>Turner Thorne, who this past season led the Sun Devils to their second Elite Eight appearance in the last three seasons, and her coaching staff will direct three camps, starting with a team camp June 5-7. The team camp is geared toward high school teams (grades 9-12) interested in the opportunity to work on team skills in game situations. Eligible teams must have a coach and a minimum of eight players. Team camp will offer two divisions of play based on skill level and the number of participants. Each team will play at least six games and will participate in a clinic conducted by Turner Thorne. Following pool play a tournament will be held.</p><separator></separator><p>An individual camp for players in grades 6-12 will be held June 8-11. This camp is geared toward players interested in playing at the next level with special attention spent on improving strengths and weaknesses in addition to individual offensive moves and defensive strategies. Players will be taught and drilled everyday in the skills of shooting, one-on-one moves, position work, passing, ball handling, rebounding and much more. Various competitions and contests will also be held throughout the week. The individual camp is offered as a boarding or non-boarding camp. Campers can stay overnight on the ASU campus and receive all meals or commute back and forth to camp and receive lunch and dinner. Commuter Camper hours are June 8th 2:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., June 9-10th 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and June 11th 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">Turner Thorne's final camp will be a day camp for players in grades 3-8, which runs from June 22-25 (9 a.m. - 3 p.m. daily). It will feature instruction on basketball fundamentals and on improving already developed skills. Ball handling, passing, shooting and defense will be a few of the many basketball fundamentals introduced. Campers will be divided into groups based on age and ability.
