Annual fundraiser for Tillman Scholars program draws 30,000 runners, supporters to Tempe for community event
Pat's Run, the annual fundraising event to support the Pat Tillman Foundation’s Tillman Scholars program, drew 30,000 runners and thousands of supporters to Tempe on Saturday. The 4.2-mileThe length of the race symbolizes Pat Tillman's No. 42 jersey as a member of the Arizona State University football team from 1994-97. run/walk finished on the north side of Arizona State University's Sun Devil Stadium with a race expo and after-party.
Earlier in the week, the Balsz Elementary School in Phoenix announced a name change to the Pat Tillman Middle School, in honor of the former ASU Sun Devil and Arizona Cardinals football player who died during military combat operations in Afghanistan in 2004.
