Ramon Garavito, Jr.

Ramon Garavito Jr., a Bachelor of Music in tuba performance student, recently placed first in the Tuba Student Division of the 30th Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Festival. Held each summer in Twin Lake, Michigan, the festival aims to promote the highest level of artistry on euphonium and tuba and to foster increased awareness and appreciation of these instruments by the general public.

"“The Falcone Festival is well-known by euphonium and tuba players internationally, and many of the previous winners have become renowned professional performers,”" says Garavito. “"I am truly grateful to Dr. Swoboda, my TAs and my late teacher, Dr. Kelly Thomas, for all of their time and efforts in helping me improve as a musician. Receiving this award opens a lot of doors for my future, and participating in the competition has enabled me to meet great musicians that I will have connections to for a lifetime.”"
