Recognizing the importance of athletes’ mental health

As an Arizona State University student-athlete, Brynn Holohan knew athletes contend with the physical obstacles to success. Injuries and conditioning challenges are among the barriers to victory on the field or in the arena. But the death of a fellow women’s lacrosse player who suffered with depression reminded Holohan about less-talked-about struggles athletes can have regarding their mental health.

He graduates this spring with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences (conservation biology and ecology) from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with honors from Barrett, The Honors College.

Why Willie Bloomquist left relaxed life to become ASU's baseball coach

When Willie Bloomquist was a special assistant to Diamondbacks President and CEO Derrick Hall, rarely a day went by when the former Sun Devil didn’t hear about his baseball heritage or why he’d be such a great fit managing the Sun Devils. On June 11, 2021, the wishes of those fans came true — Bloomquist was named ASU’s manager. Less than two years later, he has ASU in first place in the Pac-12 and ranked 12th in the country by Baseball America.
