Former ASU football player and assistant coach Larry Kentera was feted at his 100th birthday party by a who's who of Sun Devil football greats.

As the host institution for the 2024 NCAA Men's Final Four, ASU was in charge of planning and various logistics. Students from a range of majors had multiple opportunities to work the event, from Cronkite School journalists covering the event to Watts College tourism students helping staff the Fan Fest in downtown Phoenix. Here's a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes action.

Don “Donze” Mullett has supported ASU’s hockey program since its club days in 2000 when his youngest son, Chris, played for the team. In 2014, Mullett and his wife, Barbara, were instrumental in elevating Sun Devil Hockey to NCAA Division I status through their philanthropic support. On April 8, Mullett died peacefully surrounded by family, just two days before his 82nd birthday.

5 ASU alumni receive NCAA Final Four community award

Five Arizona State University alumni have been named recipients of the NCAA Men’s Final Four Phoenix 2024 Legends and Legacy Community awards. The award recognizes those who commit their time, resources and influence to improve their communities. The honor is given in conjunction with the NCAA’s Men’s Final Four, which will be held April 6 and 8 in Glendale in State Farm Stadium.

Jemele Hill to deliver lecture on race relations at ASU

Emmy Award-winning journalist Jemele Hill will be the featured speaker at the 2024 A. Wade Smith and Elsie Moore Memorial Lecture on Race Relations, hosted by The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University.

ASU alum receives lifetime achievement award

Arizona State University alum Vada Manager, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science in 1983, was honored for over 30 years in business and politics with the 2024 Executive Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Million Dollar Executive Dinner on Feb. 10 in Las Vegas.

40 years on the job: ASU women's tennis coach Sheila McInerney

Sheila McInerney has been a mentor and a mother figure to the players on the women's tennis team for four decades. It's a monumental season for the coach, who also celebrates her 66th birthday in February. “I think what sets Sheila apart is that she really cares about her players,” former player Krista Walker says.
