What's going on in Sun Devil sports?


Quick update on all your Sun Devil sports in season right now:

Cross Country: Shelby Houlihan clocked ASU’s fastest ever 6k, beating the previous record holder, Amy Hastings (the Olympian). The team now heads to the PAC-12 championships in Cali on Oct. 27.

Soccer (7-8-2): Women’s soccer plays Utah at 7 p.m., Oct. 25 and Colorado at 4 p.m., Oct. 28, both at home. The team is tied with Washington State for the 5th place spot in the Pac-12 rankings and these are two of the last three games of the regular season.

Football (5-2): Faces UCLA (5-2) Oct. 27. Defensive tackle Will Sutton and line backer Brandon Magee are currently both in the running for prestigious national awards.

Volleyball (14-9): Volleyball is on the road Oct. 26 at Stanford and on Oct. 28 at Cal. Last weekend they beat Oregon State, Oct. 19, and then lost to Oregon, Oct. 20. Of their remaining ten games, five of them are versus ranked opponents.

Golf: Freshman Jon Rahm Rodriguez just won the Bill Cullum Invitational and is only the second ASU freshman to win a tournament since 2003. The men’s team doesn’t have another competition until January.

The third ranked Women’s golf team placed sixth in last week’s Stanford Intercollegiate tournament, and heads to Texas this weekend for the Betsy Rawls Invitational.
