Washington tops volleyball
The Arizona State volleyball team fell victim to No. 4 Washington in a 3-0 sweep with set scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-13, on Sunday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.
ASU drops to 4-9 overall and 0-4 in Pac-12 while Washington improves to 11-1 and 3-1 in league action.
Ashley Kastl was the offensive leader for Arizona State, posting 14 kills - a best for both squads. Washington's Krista Vansant was tops with 10 kills for a Husky club that hit at .259 on the day.
In the first set, ASU held UW to nine kills, but 10 errors on the Sun Devil side of the court proved costly en route to falling 25-13.
A-State put up a fight in the second stanza tallying 13 kills to UW's nine and keeping the match close with three ties and three lead changes, respectively. Kastl rang in with seven kills of her own. The effort came up short with the Sun Devils dropping the frame by five, 25-20.
In the third and deciding set, Washington sealed the sweep by topping it off with a 25-13 victory after hitting a .370 attack percentage.
The Sun Devils hit the road for a two-game road swing starting with a TV match at Stanford on Sept. 30. First serve is set for 7:05 p.m. On Saturday, ASU faces off against Cal, with a 7 p.m. start time.
