Update, apply for passports at ASU

September 11, 2009

Anyone planning overseas travel during the coming holiday season should make sure to have a valid U.S. passport.

As of June 1, 2009, new U.S. Department of State regulations require all U.S. citizens traveling outside of the country to present a valid passport book or passport card upon return. Those who need to renew an old passport or apply for an new passport book or card can do so at the U.S. Passport Acceptance Office on ASU’s Tempe campus.

"Now is the time to come in and apply to avoid the rush," says Candy Sandoval, who manages the office. "Standard processing time to receive the passport book or passport card is four to six weeks." Expedited service is available for an additional fee.

The U.S. Passport Acceptance Office is part of the Center for Global Education Services, located in room 152 of Tempe Center, at 951 South Mill Ave., west of Coor Hall. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and serves students, faculty, staff and members of the community. Parking spaces are available for passport customers directly outside the building entrance.
