Senior speaks at GLAAD media awards in N.Y.


<p>ASU senior Donald Smith was a guest speaker at the 20th Annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards event on March 28 in New York City.</p><separator></separator><p>Smith spoke to 1,500 people in attendance about how he was inspired in many ways by his role model, Neil Giuliano, who is a former ASU administrator, Tempe mayor and GLAAD president.</p><separator></separator><p>Smith is a national spokesperson for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. He is in the Parks and Recreation Management Program of ASU's School of Community Resources &amp; Development.</p><separator></separator><p>Among the celebrity guests honored at the GLAAD Awards were Tyra Banks, Suze Orman and Phil Donahue.</p>
