Seaman shines in Gym Devils' loss to UCLA

On a day that saw some inconsistencies for the No. 24 Arizona State women’s gymnastics team (4-4, 2-3 Pac-12), it was sophomore Samantha Seaman unfailing performance on all four events that brought the Branson, Mo. native a career-high on all around. Despite falling to No. 6 UCLA (8-1-1, 4-1-1 Pac-12) 194.850-198.050, the Sun Devils scored a season-high 49.050 on beam to finish out the meet on a high note.

Seaman came out to compete on Sunday, tying or surpassing her career high on bars, beam and the all-around. With a career-high all around score of 39.175, Seaman paced the Sun Devils with her consistent performance through out the meet.

Senior Amanda Davies made the most of her come back rejoining the Sun Devil line-up on floor for the first time since Utah State. Davies closed out the floor rotation for ASU scoring a career-high 9.875. Freshman Natelle Gentile also scored a career high on beam, posting a 9.800 in the event.

Beam was a high point for the Sun Devils on the day, closing out the meet strong in the event. The Gym Devils recorded three scores of 9.8 or better, punctuated by the performances of Seaman and senior Kahoku Palafox. Palafox also tied a career high on beam with a score of 9.850, her best routine of the season.

Next up, the Sun Devils continue their road campaign as they travel to Seattle, Wash. on March 2 to take on the 25th-ranked Washington Huskies.
