School of Public Affairs announces opening of Coor Leadership Collection
The School of Public Affairs has announced the opening of the Coor Leadership Collection in coordination with the Lattie & Elva Coor Presidential Chair.
The Coor Leadership Collection is a collection of several hundred seminal books concerning public leadership. The Lattie & Elva Coor Presidential Chair is an endowment awarded to the Director of the School of Public Affairs to advance the scholarship and practice of leadership and ethics across Arizona State University.
All materials are part of the ASU Libraries collections and can be found via the libraries' online catalog. They are housed in the southwest corner of the Downtown Phoenix campus library Information Commons (UCENT LL). Designed and furnished with a colorful and comfortable ambience, the Coor Leadership Collection display provides the ideal space for students to read, study, and engage with others.
The first Coor Chair and former director of the School of Public Affairs, Robert B. Denhardt, spearheaded the development of the Coor Leadership Collection. Denhardt donated his personal collection of leadership books to the library. The Collection was also made possible with support from the current Coor Chair and director of the School of Public Affairs, Jonathan G.S. Koppell.
“Lattie Coor has provided a superb model of leadership for ASU and for the state of Arizona for many years. For this reason, it’s only fitting that the university’s collection of materials on leadership, especially public leadership, be designated the Coor Leadership Collection. The Coor Leadership Collection will provide a resource for faculty, staff, and students interested in leadership development and the space devoted to the collection will provide a space for leadership scholars to come together to pursue the advancement of leadership in the ASU community and beyond,” says Denhardt.
