School of Art building reopens

After 2 p.m., May 20, the School of Art building on the ASU Tempe campus will partially reopen. The school’s staff will be unavailable for assistance May 20, as they will be moving belongings back into the building. The school’s main office reopens Friday, May 21 at 8 a.m. The building is scheduled to completely open on Monday, May 24.

While the majority of the building will reopen, the second floor will remain closed to faculty, staff and students. Those needing access to the second floor will need to be escorted to their locker or office space to retrieve belongings.

School of Art staff will contact all students during the week of May 24 regarding a new schedule and deadline for locker cleanout. Students also will be notified via e-mail of any course cancellations or relocations required due to reconstruction efforts.

The University and Environmental Health & Safety immediately closed the building due to water damage following a pipe burst on the third floor during the early morning hours of May 7. The building was sealed on May 8 at 5 p.m., and no access has been permitted since that date.

If you have questions about the building closure, please call the Dean and Director's office of the ASU Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at 480.965.0050, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
