Royal Military Academy workshop panel chaired by Kittrie


<p>Professor <a href="http://apps.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=5347">O… Kittrie</a> chaired and was a speaker on a panel at the Belgian Royal Military Academy in Brussels, at a workshop co-sponsored by the NATO Headquarters and the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War.</p><separator></separator><p>The title of the Oct. 27 workshop was “The Pre-Emptive and Preventive Use of Force in Response to the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.” Kittrie participated in a panel, “Policy considerations and the current legal framework for measures in response to weapon of mass destruction proliferation,” with Dieter Fleck, former director for International Agreements &amp; Policy, Federal Ministry of Defence, Germany, and Professor Alexandra Mezykowska, Counselor, Law &amp; Treaty Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Poland.</p><separator></separator><p>Kittrie is the Director of the College of Law’s Washington, D.C., Legal Externship Program and a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Law, Science &amp; Innovation. His teaching and research focus on international law, especially nonproliferation and sanctions, and criminal law. Kittrie has testified on nonproliferation issues before the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives and recently served as one of 12 members of a special Congressionally-created committee to make recommendations on how to better prevent the proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
