'A Prairie Home Companion' coming to ASU Gammage, tickets on sale


Garrison Keillor is scheduled to perform a live national broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion from ASU Gammage at 3:45 p.m., Jan. 19. Tickets start at $20 and go on sale at 10 a.m., Oct. 22. The broadcast will feature The Royal Academy of Radio actors with Tim Russell, Sue Scott and sound effects man Fred Newman, the Guy's All-Star Shoe Band and Garrison's signature monologue, "The News From Lake Wobegon."

Now in its 39th season, "A Prairie Home Companion" is heard by nearly four million listeners on over 600 public radio stations nationwide, as well as on XM Radio, the American Forces Network Europe, the Far East Network, and in dozens of European cities via the Astra satellite network.

The program is produced by Prairie Home Productions and presented by American Public Media. The show is sponsored nationally by Allianz and Ford Motor Company. Audio clips, scripts, and more information on A Prairie Home Companion can be found online at prairiehome.org.

Host of public radio programs "A Prairie Home Companion" and "The Writer's Almanac," Garrison Keillor is also the author of over a dozen books, including his most recent, "Guy Noir and the Straight Skinny" (Viking), and the editor of several anthologies of poetry, most recently "Good Poems: American Places" (Viking).

Garrison Keillor’s "A Prarie Home Companion" is part of ASU Gammage’s 2012-2013 BEYOND series which for 21 years has evolved into a carefully curated series that brings world-class artists into the community.
