Partners in research: Lessons learned in Los Angeles

May 22, 2013

ASU professor Cassia Spohn and coauthor Katharine Tellis discuss the role communication played in their effort to examine sexual assault cases reported to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. Spohn and Tellis said researchers need to "communicate in a way that is relevant to the agency and does not come off as 'ivory towered' and out of touch with the 'real' world of criminal justice."

The Q & A about the role of communication between researchers and agencies is featured in the National Institute of Justice Journal. It also includes the perspective of police agencies.
