Op-ed: Cesar Chavez, flawed hero of the fields by Matt Garcia


In an exclusive op-ed for the LA Times, Matthew Garcia, director for the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies writes about his research on Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers (UFW). Garcia discusses unknown facts about Chavez as a leader and the individuals who helped make the UFW famous. He also uncovers evidence that prevented the UFW from reaching its goals.

The research was for Garcia's new book "From the Jaws of Victory: The Triumph and Tragedy of Cesar Chavez and the Farm Worker Movement" on sale now.
