O'Connor promotes Web-based civics lessons

Former Supreme Court justice Sandra Day O’Connor is working with Arizona State University and Georgetown University Law Center to develop a Web site and interactive civics curriculum for seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade students called Our Courts (www.ourcourts.org). The initial major elements of the site are scheduled to become available this fall.

The Our Courts project responds to the critical need of educating a generation of school children about the value of an independent judiciary. The project is a collaborative partnership between the College of Education, ASU College of Teacher Education and Leadership, the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, and the Department of History, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and the Sandra Day O’Connor Project on the State of the Judiciary at Georgetown University Law Center.
