My ASU enhanced with new parent, guest access feature
My ASU is the university’s central hub for communications and information. The My ASU experience is continually evolving as students provide feedback and new advancements are made.
Most recently, ASU students have asked for an easy way to share information with their parents, guardians and spouses. In response, the university will soon launch a new feature on My ASU for students to grant their parents (and others) guest access to view their information online.
The My ASU team reviewed student and parent feedback, taking everything said into consideration during design and development of the guest access feature, which is slated to go live April 7.
"ASU recognizes that parents, guardians, spouses and others are important to students," said Lou Ann Denny, associate vice provost for Enrollment Management and Services and University Registrar. "We provide the opportunity for these important individuals to support, foster and be involved in students' academic careers."
Students can grant access to all educational records maintained by ASU, as defined by FERPA. Students can also choose their guest’s access privileges and edit these privileges at any time.
My ASU guest access privileges include:
Academics
• class schedule, major and college
• final grades and GPA
• admission status
Finances
• financial aid and scholarships
• student account information
• parent PLUS Loans
• payments
"ASU is about building relationships with all of our constituents," said Leah Lommel, assistant vice president of UTO Development. "This includes parents and guests who have a student's permission to view and take care of specific items. This portal will allow easier communication between students and their delegates, allow those delegates their own personalized experience at ASU and move us one step further to better comprehensive service to engage all parties in a student's ultimate success and education."
To help our ASU community understand the new My ASU guest access feature, a series of presentations will be hosted on each campus. ASU faculty and staff can register for a one-hour presentation at links.asu.edu/workshops.
