Monsoon storm phenomena present a complex picture


In an article about the possibility of monsoon thunderstorms this week, Arizona state climatologist and ASU research professor Nancy Selover comments on characteristics of Arizona's monsoon storms. She points out that even thought the conditions needed to generate storms are known, specific storms are difficult to forecast.

She also points out that dust storms are more likely early in the monsoon season when drought conditions exist.
