Homecoming 2014: Written in the Sparks

Homecoming week kicked off Oct. 27 with a free comedy show for ASU students that featured special guest Chris D'Elia.

Hannibal Burress, American stand-up comedian, actor and television writer, headlined the comedy show held at Gammage Auditorium.

The Downtown Programming and Activities Board hosted its 4th annual homecoming dance on the Downtown Phoenix campus, Oct. 28, at the AE England and Civic Space Park.

Students danced the night away in semi-formal attire for the "City of Lights" themed dance.

West campus was transformed into a carnival-themed wonderland during Sparky's Big Top Carnival, Oct. 29.

Members of the public were invited to enjoy the many carnival booths and free food.

Live entertainment filled the Las Casas Lawn on the West campus.

A fire show was among the many delights featured at the Big Top Carnival.

The Cooley Ballrooms on the Polytechnic campus were transformed into a James Bond-themed casino for the signature Devil's Royale event, Oct. 30.

At Devils Royal, students could try their luck at blackjack, dance to a live DJ and sip on mocktails.

The block party featured over 100 booths that featured science experiments, face painting, live reptiles, renaissance costumes and more.

This year a new Devils on College pre-game event encompassed the plaza area surrounding the recently constructed College Avenue Commons building.

As the block party winds down, excitement begins to build for the game against the University of Utah, which was held at 8 p.m.
