Gym Devils face first road trip of the season at Utah State

The Arizona State women’s gymnastics team (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12) hits the road for the first time this season as the team competes against Utah State (2-4, 0-1 WAC) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Friday at 7 p.m. MT in Logan, Utah.

The Sun Devils face a talented Aggie team, which posted a season-high 194.050 to finish in second place last week in tri meet against No. 13 Boise State and Southern Utah. It was the Aggies first win over Boise State since 2007 and snapped a 13-meet losing streak against the Broncos. Gymnast Sarah Landes led Utah State, scoring a total of 39.225 in the all-around.

Last week the Sun Devils defeated in-state rival then-No. 15 Arizona in Tempe with a season-high score of 195.875. ASU was led by senior Beate Jones, who won her second-consecutive all-around title with a score of 39.200. Jones also tied her career high on floor, hitting a 9.900 in the event.

With its score of 195.875, Arizona State moved up in the overall team rankings to 26th overall nationally. The Sun Devils are also ranked 12th in the nation on bars and 21st on beam.
