Freeman and Escobedo compete at ISF Junior Women's World Championship


Amber Freeman and Dallas Escobedoof the Sun Devil softball team will compete for the 2011 USA Softball Junior Women's National Team at the International Softball Federation Junior Women's World Championship in Cape Town, South Africa from Dec. 7-17.

Play begins for the pair when USA takes on Canada Dec. 8 at 7:30 p.m.

"We are incredibly excited to start the tournament against one of the most competitive countries in our sport. To be the best, you have to play against the best," head coach Karen Johns said. "If our team wants to take home a Gold Medal from Cape Town, they have to be ready from the first pitch of the tournament through the last out in the Championship Game."

Freeman and Escobedo bring a wealth of experience to the roster - each is a Gold Medalist as a member of the Pan American Championship (18-Under) team from 2010.
