Free college-prep program for students interested in business: open to underrepresented and economically disadvantaged high school students
TEMPE, Ariz. (Jan. 25, 2017) – Fleischer Scholars is a week-long summer program for deserving juniors who will be graduating from Arizona high schools in 2018. Fifty applicants will be given full scholarships for housing at ASU, meals and materials.
Sessions will be held June 12 – 16, 2017 and from July 10-14, 2017
The early decision application deadline is February 15, with a final deadline of April 30, 2017.
The program is available only to high school students completing their junior year. Applications are available at wpcarey.asu.edu/Fleischer or by calling (480) 965-5187 or email wpcsummerprograms@asu.edu.
Students selected for the program will stay with supervising mentors in Barrett, the Honors College on ASU’s Tempe campus. They will learn resume writing, college study skills, financial aid tips, and the keys to academic and professional success from current W. P. Carey students and faculty members, as well as local business leaders.
“The transition to a rigorous business college can be an adjustment for students. The Fleischer Scholars Program is specifically designed to help those who might not otherwise be exposed to college to live on campus and get a sense of the experience,” said Amy Hillman, dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business.
“I believe that this environment really allows people to succeed, and I’m a good example of it,” said Mort Fleisher founder and benefactor. All of the program’s scholarships are provided by local entrepreneur Morton Fleischer and his wife, ASU graduate Donna Fleischer.
