Flexible future on the horizon for electronic devices

Flexible technology looks to be one of the next big waves in engineering achievement.

Major corporations and research institutions are pursing progress in development of flexible electronic display screens for portable computers, smart phones, e-readers and mobile communications devices.

Among them is the Flexible Display Center in Arizona State University’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

The center’s engineers are chasing the dream of resilient, light-weight, high-quality electronic devices that could someday literally be rolled up or molded into a variety of shapes.

Nicholas Colaneri, the center’s director, was recently quoted in an article that updates work in flexible-display technology – and looks at the array of potential new products that could result from the advances.
