Eight honors nonprofit groups
Encouraging others to “Be More” in every walk of life, the Be More Awards – an awards ceremony honoring nonprofit organizations throughout Arizona – is scheduled for May 14 at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale. The Be More Awards will shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes in the counties of Apache, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma.
The awards ceremony and luncheon will celebrate exceptional efforts of nonprofit organizations made from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31 of last year.
Through Feb. 15, Eight/KAET-TV will accept applications from nonprofit organizations, which are encouraged to demonstrate their achievements and accomplishments in one of five award categories ranging from outstanding marketing initiatives (Be More Informed), exceptional educational outreach (Be More Knowledgeable), exceptional arts and culture outreach (Be More Creative), innovative organization endeavors (Be More Brilliant), and extraordinary fundraising and event efforts (Be More Entertaining).
In addition, organizations will be able to rally their supporters by encouraging them to vote in the Be More Awards People’s Choice Poll (Be More Humble), scheduled to begin March 1.
More than 2,000 award applications have been mailed to nonprofit organizations in Apache, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma counties. Applications can be downloaded from the Web site www.azpbs.org/bemore, and they also are available by calling (480) 965-9614.
The winners of all of the awards, as well as the prestigious Judges Award (Be More Encouraged) and the coveted Be More Awards NonProfit Organization of the Year honor (Be More Unstoppable), will be announced at the awards luncheon in May. Organizations that win a Be More Award will receive the award title, and also will gain awareness for their organization through extensive Eight public relations and media campaigns, as well as on the Be More Inspired half-hour primetime television special.
Applications submitted for a Be More Award are judged by an independent panel of 15 judges ranging from community volunteers to business leaders from throughout the Apache, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma areas. The Be More Awards also are supported in part by Intel Corp. and SCF of Arizona.
