Cruz to introduce author at immigration lecture

Clinical professor Evelyn Cruz, director of the Immigration Law & Policy Clinic at the College of Law,  will introduce the author of a new book on Mexican immigration and border policy, at a lecture in Seattle on Nov. 8.

Professor Steven W. Bender of Seattle University School of Law is the author of "Run for the Border: Vice and Virtue in U.S.-Mexico Border Crossings," in which he offers a framework for a more comprehensive border policy through a historical analysis of border crossings.

Bender will discuss how to instill a better image of immigrants in the American imagination as a catalyst for reform, and reflect on how the outcome of the election could reshape immigration policies.

Cruz teaches immigration law and comprehensive law practice, which represents unaccompanied minors in immigration removal proceedings. Cruz also has co-authored several immigration law manuals used by immigration practitioners and pro-se detainees at Immigration Detention Centers throughout the country.
