Baseball gets second win over No. 2 Arkansas, 3-1

The 24th-ranked Arizona State University baseball team defeated No. 2 Arkansas for the second time in three days, 3-1, on March 2 at Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Ariz.

Right fielder Trever Allen broke up a tie game in the bottom of the seventh after he rounded the bases on a bunt single, two throwing errors and a wild pitch. Third basemanMichael Benjamin extended his team-leading hitting streak to eight games with a single two batters later, and left fielder Jake Peevyhouse followed with an RBI double to right-center field to stretch the Sun Devils (7-2) advantage to two, 3-1.

Right-hander Alex Blackford (1-0) struck out three of the four batters he faced in the seventh inning to earn his first win of the season, and right-hander Ryan Burr (2) did not allow a hit over the final two frames to collect the save. Burr also recorded the save in ASU's 3-2 win over Arkansas on Thursday.

Arkansas starting right-hander Trey Killian (1-1) was replaced with one out in the bottom of the seventh and was credited with his first loss of the season after his throwing error allowed Allen to get on base for the winning run. He struck out nine in 6 1/3 and gave up one earned run on three hits.

ASU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a single by Allen and an RBI double by designated hitter Nate Causey
