This semester, Palm Walk became one of the new Walk Only Zones on the Tempe campus. The first Walk Only Zones were created last fall to enhance pedestrian safety and to ease vehicle congestion. To learn more, visit: walk.asu.edu.

Friends hang out between classes on ASU's West campus. Many students choose the West campus for its smaller, liberal arts college feel. This year, the campus saw an enrollment growth of 385 new freshmen.
Keeping up with a long-standing ASU tradition, the freshman class hiked up "A" Mountain Aug. 23 to whitewash the giant letter that marks the Tempe landmark just north of campus.

The current "A" is made of reinforced steel and poured concrete and measures 60 feet from base to top.

The whitewashing tradition began in the 1930s as part of orientation and continues to this day during Welcome Week, indicating the commencement of another academic year at ASU.
