ASU's academically distinguished freshman class touted by AZFamily

This year’s incoming freshman class at Arizona State University is setting records for their academic abilities, as reported by azfamily.com in a recent article, “ASU’s freshman class sets records.”

Out of the 38,701 students who applied for admission as first-time freshmen, ASU enrolled just slightly more than 10,000 academically distinguished students - the biggest freshman class yet.

"The message is carrying far and wide that Arizona State University is a place that embraces and champions excellence and opportunity for all academically qualified students," said Elizabeth D. Phillips, executive vice president and provost.

The new Sun Devil class has an average high school GPA of 3.4 and average SAT score of 1116. Forty-nine percent are New American University Scholars at the Dean, Provost and President Scholarship levels, the most prestigious scholarships for first-time freshmen.
