ASU swimmer records fastest time in world
Arizona State swimmer Rebecca Ejdervik swam the fastest time in the world in the 50 Long Course Meter Breaststroke event at the Canadian World Championship Trials beginning Mar. 30, 2011 through April 3, 2011 in Victoria, British Columbia.
Junior Ejdervik recorded a time of 31.06 in the preliminary race of the event, the fastest time recorded in the 50 Breaststroke at the meet. She also competed in the 100 Long Course Breaststroke event where she recorded a time of 1:09.23 to place first in the consolation finals.
Teammates Cassie Morrice and Caroline Kuczynski also excelled at the meet. Sophomore Morrice placed seventh both the in 400 Long Course Meter Freestyle and the 200 Long Course Meter Freestyle with final times of 4:16.07 and 2:01.54, respectively. She also competed in the 400 Meter Freestyle and Medley Relays with swimmers from her club team, Island Swimming.
Sophomore Kuczynski placed third in the 50 Long Course Meter Butterfly with a finals time of 27.27. She also placed fourth in the 100 Long Course Meter Butterfly with a finals time of 59.95. Kucznyski also competed in the 400 Meter Freestyle and Medley Relays with swimmers from her club team, Pointe-Claire Swim Club.
Former ASU swimmer and multiple school record-holder Jen Beckberger also competed at the Canadian World Trials where she placed sixth in the 50 Long Course Meter Freestyle event with a finals time of 25.84. She also placed fifteenth overall with a best time of 30.05 in the 50 Long Course Meter Backstroke.
