ASU Gammage brings millions to Valley economy

August 18, 2011

ASU Gammage brings more than tremendous entertainment to Arizona. The Broadway Across America – Arizona series generates significant dollars, beyond the box office. The 2010-2011 series was a leading economic engine for Tempe as well as the rest of the Valley. Even during difficult economic times, the series brought in more than $35 million in economic impact to the Valley. The Broadway League’s recent study concluded that touring Broadway shows contributed more than $3.35 billion to local economies across the United States.

“In a struggling economy, these numbers are dramatic and remarkable. Even in difficult economic times people are still looking to be entertained and ways to create memories with their families and friends, and I believe experiencing Broadway is a way to do this. ASU Gammage is proud that the work we present also benefits our local restaurants, hotels and businesses. Since the economic downturn in 2006, our Broadways series has pumped more than $265 million in economic impact into the state,” says Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, executive director of ASU Gammage.
