Alumni Association announces winner of Frank Kush Photo Contest
Holly Hall, a 1977 graduate of Arizona State University, is the winner of the Frank Kush Photo Contest sponsored by the ASU Alumni Association. Hall, a cheerleader at the university during her days as an undergraduate student, won the contest with a picture of herself with Frank Kush taken in 1977.
The photo contest asked fans to email photos of themselves with Kush to the Alumni Association or to post them to the association’s Facebook page. Participants were entered into a prize drawing. As the winner of the drawing, Hall will receive two tickets to the Alumni Association’s Oct. 28 Legends Luncheon event, which will honor Kush and his ASU teams, and a one-night stay at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown hotel. Photos from the contest will be shown at the Legends Luncheon.
The photo contest is one component of a celebration of Kush’s legacy at ASU. Kush arrived at Arizona State in 1955, and took the reins as head coach in 1958. He coached the Sun Devils until 1979. Under his leadership, the Sun Devils won nine conference titles, went 6-1 in bowl games and had two undefeated teams. He was named the 1975 National Coach of the Year and inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1996, the Sun Devil Stadium renamed its playing field after Kush.
