A survey of international employers found that Arizona State University graduates are considered to be very employable.

The Global Employability University Ranking & Survey (GEURS), released recently, ranked ASU 34th among international universities and 13th among U.S. institutions for employable graduates. With those rankings, which were the same in 2023, ASU is ahead of Johns Hopkins, the University of Chicago, Dartmouth, Brown and UCLA.

ASU is the second-ranked public U.S. university, behind the University of California, Berkeley, which is ranked 20th internationally and 9th in the U.S.

Among the biggest employers of ASU graduates are some of the most prestigious companies, including Amazon, Intel, Banner Health, Deloitte, Honeywell, Wells Fargo, American Express, Microsoft and PepsiCo, according to ASU Career Services.

Jake Brown, a senior university engagement representative at PepsiCo, said his company hires both student interns and full-time employees from ASU and hired 50 Sun Devils in the fall semester.

“We hire for a few different functions — corporate roles for our foods and beverages division, field roles, which are in our main plants, and sales, which are field roles, (as well as) working with the stores that we service,” he said.

Brown said that ASU is a great pipeline for employees for the company’s Western U.S. openings.

“We have some very passionate alumni here that love getting back on campus,” he said. “They want to take care of the next classes.

“We see a lot of great people coming through the supply chain degree program, and they’ve really been strong.”

There are 23,625 schools and universities across the globe, according to EruderaThe world's largest and most updated database of schools and universities. . The Global Employability University Ranking and Survey ranks the top 250 universities worldwide for employability and is the only ranking based exclusively on international employers' point of view.

“We are a new kind of university that can accomplish things like this while focusing on both excellence and broad accessibility,” ASU President Michael Crow said. “It’s not just our place among the 200 to 300 that were ranked; it’s our place among the tens of thousands of universities around the world.”

First released in 2010, the GEURS ranking is produced by Emerging, a consulting and polling institute, and is, for employability, currently the most consulted ranking by employers worldwide.

The GEURS is an independent survey produced and commissioned annually by Emerging.

Employers rated the employability performance of more than 1,000 universities worldwide. Employer opinions collected on the survey shape the ranking, along with a 35-point framework developed by employability leaders. The 2024 results are from 100,700 votes by employers worldwide.
