Track & field's Johnson, Williams earn awards from Pac-10


<p align="justify">The Pacific-10 Conference announced its first weekly honors Wednesday (April 9) with two members of the Arizona State University track and field team earning distinction, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced. Junior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/williams_charonda00.htm… Williams</a> was selected as the Pac-10 Women's Track Athlete of the Week while senior <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/johnson_jacquelyn00.htm… Johnson</a> was selected as the Pac-10 Women's Field Athlete of the Week.</p><separator></separator><p align="justify">Williams had a strong outing at the Jim Click Shootout in Tucson on Saturday as she had a hand in three regional qualifiers while also posting two individual times that rank among the Top 10 in ASU history. She ran 11.50 to win the 100m dash before coming back to claim the 200m dash in a time of 23.48. She also ran the third leg of the winning 4x100m relay (45.04). Her 100m time ranks ninth all-time at ASU while her 200m time is the eighth-best in program history.</p><separator></separator><p align="justify">Johnson, the three-time defending national heptathlon champion, opened her title defense by winning the Jim Click Combined Events competition with a school-record performance of 6,143 points, bettering the previous record of 6,125 set in 1990 by Gea Johnson and also moving her into the top spot in the world standings currently (April 8). The current Johnson won all seven events in the heptathlon to automatically qualify for the national meet while recording regional qualifying marks in four events, including the 100m hurdles (13.40), high jump (1.75m), long jump (6.08m) and javelin (46.45m). She also set two heptathlon event records with her time of 24.01 in the 200m dash and her javelin mark while also setting the overall school record in the javelin.</p><separator></separator><p align="justify">Williams, Johnson and the rest of the Sun Devils will play host to the 29th Sun Angel Track Classic presented by Coca-Cola this Friday and Saturday in Tempe. The hammer will be held Friday night with the action Saturday starting at 10 a.m. with the discus.
