Sun Devils remain perfect with 6-1 win over Northwestern
The Arizona State men's tennis team remains undefeated with a 6-1 win over Northwestern. The Sun Devils won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to defeat the Wildcats.
In doubles, the duo of T.J. Bellama and Matt Brooklyn blew past Marc Dwyer and Alex Sanborn 8-5 in the No. 1 spot. Wes Miller and John Nanosky II handily defeated David Seyferth and Andrew McCarthy 8-3 in the No. 3 spot. Juan Carlos Rebaza and Andres Arango fell 8-5 in their doubles match.
In the No. 1 spot, Matt Brooklyn kept his record on the year perfect after sweeping past Dwyer in two sets, winning 6-2, 7-5. Arango won his first match 7-6 but fell in his second 6-7 before retiring. Rebaza came back after dropping his second set to defeat Thams 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Miller blew past Wildcat Peer Rispoli, winning his match in two sets 6-3, 6-1. Bellama battled back after dropping his first set to defeat Juan Gomez 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Nanosky remained undefeated at the No. 6 spot with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Seyferth.
The Sun Devils begin Pac-10 play next week in Los Angeles. The team takes on UCLA Friday February 22 at 1:30 p.m. PT and USC the following day at 1:00 p.m.
