Men's golf looks to continue their strong play


<p> Coming off a seventh-place finish at the Big Island/ UH- Hilo Intercollegiate Invitational, the ASU men's golf team enters the first spring season poll by Golf World ranked tenth. They return to action Sunday, February 22, at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of North Florida. The tournament takes place at the par-72 Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Verda Beach, Fla., and runs through Tuesday, February 24.</p><separator></separator><p>The line-up for the Invitational includes juniors Tristan Birenbroodspot and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/byrne_james00.html">James Byrne</a>, and the freshman trio of <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/borsheim_knut00.html">Kn… Borsheim</a> Stephen Gross, and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/kennegard_jesper00.html"… Kennegard</a>.</p><separator></separator><p>Led by 17th year head Coach <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-golf/mtt/lein_randy00.html">Randy Lein</a>, the Sun Devils shot an 11-over par 875 (296-291-288) in Hawaii, their first tournament of 2009.</p><separator></separator><p>The John Hayt Collegiate Invitational has become known as college golf's first major tournament of the spring season, attracting some of the top golf programs in the country. Eight of Golf World's top-25 ranked teams will be there, including No. 4 Alabama, No. 14 Tennessee, No. 23 Chattanooga and No. 24 Duke. <!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
