MacPhee named Pac-10 Player of the Week


<p>Arizona State sophomore and second baseman Zack MacPhee has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced today. It is the first weekly honor of MacPhee's career and marks the third straight year a Sun Devil has been named Pac-10 Player of the Week following opening weekend. It is the 91st time a Sun Devil has won a weekly award from the conference, the most in the Pac-10.</p><separator></separator><p>In addition to the award from the Pac-10, MacPhee was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.</p><separator></separator><p>MacPhee (Phoenix, Ariz.) was an offensive dynamo during ASU's three-game sweep of Northern Illinois, going 8-11 (.727) with seven runs scored and eight runs batted in. MacPhee collected six extra base hits, including four triples, after tripling only once all of last season. He slugged an eye-popping 1.818 in the three games against NIU, totaling 20 bases and boasting a .786 on base percentage. He added a homer and a double to his collection of triples, and drew three walks and stole two bases.</p><separator></separator><p>MacPhee and the Sun Devils return to action Friday night against Towson, as they host the Tigers in the first game of a four-game weekend series at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.</p><separator></separator><!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
