Jake Borup named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week


<p>Arizona State sophomore right handed pitcher <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/borup_jake00.html">Jake Borup</a> has been named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today.It is the first weekly honor of Borup's career and the 57th time a Sun Devil has earned Pitcher of the Week honors. He was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.</p><separator></separator><p>This is the second time in 2010 a Sun Devil has earned a Pac-10 weekly award. <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/macphee_zack00.html">Z… MacPhee</a> was named the Pac-10 Player of the Week following opening weekend.</p><separator></separator><p>Borup (Mesa, Ariz.) was phenomenal in his start against California on Sunday, going 7.2 innings and allowing only one run on two hits. The first two hitters of the game reached base for the Bears, then Borup recorded 21 consecutive outs, including 13 strike outs. Borup fanned the side twice, while five of the nine Cal starters struck out at least twice. The 13 Ks is a career high for Borup and a season high for ASU.</p><separator></separator><p>Borup is 5-0 on the season with a 2.14 ERA with 36 strike outs in 33.2 innings of work. <!-- STORY AD BEGINS HERE --></p>
