Four teams advance after Group A first round action
The 2006 ASU Academic Bowl kicked off in grand fashion Oct. 12, with head to head competition between eight college teams.
The Group A first round matches, in front of a cheering audience in the Memorial Union’s Pima Room, included eight of the 16 teams in the event. The Group B first round matches, with the other eight squads, will be held Oct. 18.
The results for Oct. 12, were:
• Match 1: Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering defeated Herberger College of Fine Art 270-75.
• Match 2: University College defeated College of Science and Technology 385-60.
• Match 3: New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences defeated East College 120-95 .
• Match 4: College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Team A defeated College of Teacher Education and Leadership 340-140.
The Group B matches will be held again in the Pima Room of the MU, beginning at 7 p.m., Oct. 19.
The winners move on to the Oct. 25 quarterfinals.
