Former Sun Devil standouts Dustin Pedroia and Andre Ethier to appear at baseball Hitting Camp


TEMPE, Ariz, - Former Sun Devil standouts and current Major Leaguers Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox and Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers will be making an appearance at ASU Baseball's upcoming Hitting Camp, being held in Tempe, Arizona. This is a unique opportunity for all campers to receive instruction from two Major League Baseball stars and one of the finest college baseball programs in the nation.

This Specialized hitting camp is designed to cover, in-depth, various hitting drills and techniques. The emphasis of this two-day clinic is to teach and refine hitting fundamentals as well as help improve mechanics and offensive approach. Each camper will be working with top collegiate coaches from Arizona State and current Sun Devil players. They will also get to learn from 2 of the finest young hitters in Major League Baseball; Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox and Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers. ASU is annually among the top offensive programs in the country. Come learn from the techniques that have made Sun Devil hitters so successful.

Pedroia was a star at ASU from 2002 to 2004, earning All-American honors as well as Co-Pac-10 Player of the Year honors. He was a key member of the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox and was named the 2007 American Rookie of the Year.

Ethier was a standout outfielder from 2002 to 2003, twice earning First Team All-Pac-10 honors. He made his MLB debut in 2006 and appeared in 153 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.

The Hitting Camp runs January 19th and 20th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark in Tempe. The camp is for ages 11 to 19. To register for the camp or for more information, call the ASU Baseball Office at 490-965-1510.
